In 2004 Brenda caught wind of an open space at the International Market Square and her longtime dream of owning a business in her hometown became a reality. Once again, she curated a collection of heirloom quality lines that at the time, lacked representation in Minnesota. Scherping Westphal quickly became a resource for interior designers and architects for fine upholstery, case goods and textiles.
During the recession of the early 2000s, Brenda felt there was a need for another showroom that offered the California-craftmanship with a more approachable price-point. The seed was planted for AJ Maison, a namesake for her daughters, Addison and Julia. Fast forward another five years and The Boutique by SW was born. Originally a resource for luxury bed linens, it has grown to include a private-labeled upholstery collection, Boutique Home. Each showroom brings a unique element to every project.
Brenda prides herself on representing manufacturers that show respect to the environment and exhibit ethical business practices. Each project influences and rewards the lives and families of the hundreds of upholsterers, frame makers, textile designers, and of course her staff. Over time, Brenda has built a diverse sales team that thrives on collaboration and truly cares about the design process and the relationship you have with your client.
